Hello friends and followers!  I'm about to release a few new paintings to the public on Sunday, Jan. 27.  However, I will have a special early release for my followers.  You will get to preview them before anyone else on Friday, Jan. 25.  Yes, you get to see them BEFORE they are available to the public and also have first dibs to purchase them as well.

So if you haven't already, register on my website.  Oh, and I'd be delighted if you would share this with your friends and followers too.

Much love, Laurie

Well a lot has been going on in the past few months and I am so excited to start a new year, refreshed and ready to soar!

My art is now in two galleries and two interior design stores! I'm also selling online!

I want to thank everyone who has supported me these past few years of selling professionally.  I'd appreciate you sharing my website (and this blog/email) with your friends because I am going to start offering "first views" and special discounts to those on my email list first, before they are offered to the public.

I'm super active on Instagram, so follow me there at www.instagram.com/laurie_henry

Talk to you real soon!

Open Studio this weekend

The Goat Farm is hosting an Open Studio this Friday and Saturday, March 23-24.  My studio will be open as well as many others.  Come see this historical artist venue in west Atlanta where we will open up our studios to the public.  Maps will be available so you will know which studios are open.  Also, wear comfortable shoes because the ground is uneven (and old)...and yes, you can see the goats, llamas and roosters while you're here.

My studio is in building TR #13 - next to the chicken house and this large outdoor seating area shown above.

Hope to see you!

I am super excited to announce that I have a new working studio! It's located at the Goat Farm Arts Center near downtown Atlanta.  I'll be leaving my current home studio after three years.  This space will allow me to be more creative (and, of course, not worry about getting paint on the floor and walls.)

I'll continue to keep you updated on new projects going forward.  You can find my creations at Markay Gallery on the Marietta Square.

...posting further progress...

I noticed my last blog post was over a month ago, and it was this cute little beach scene I started.   You see, my mother showed me this picture in the [Palm Springs, California] paper and she mentioned how beautiful and relaxing it was.  I liked it too so I thought it would be fun to paint something different.  It's still a WIP (work in progress) and I have it hanging in my studio to be finished at a later time.  I do like it though and hope to finish soon.

I started blocking in this adorable beach scene of a man and woman staring at the ocean and sky.  I ground the canvas with burnt sienna because I like the reddish orange to peak through the paint colors.

Here's a look at the first block in.  I love this stage of the painting.

OK, I don't think I took a good picture of this painting but I'll post it anyway.  This is my largest painting so far to date.  It's a 48"x 36" oil on canvas. I painted this for Markay Gallery's July show titled "Red, White & Blueberries" where artists share a collection of bold color and varying themes representing works of a picnic-perfect summer day and Americana on canvas.

Come by the gallery in July and see all the great original art represented by the gallery and check out my paintings while you're there too.

I started painting this large blueberry painting for Markay Gallery in early June.  This is my first attempt at a large painting, 48x36" to be exact.  It was a bit overwhelming at first but I found it developed and created itself as I painted.

Final picture coming soon.

I'm pleased to announce that I am now being represented by Markay Gallery in Marietta, Georgia.  The gallery is nestled behind the Cobb Marietta Museum of Art on Winters Street.

This new gallery opened to the public on April 7.

Taking a new approach to traditional gallery norms, Markay Gallery brings art of all forms.  While spectacular paintings, sculptures, and photography are in the masterful mix, there is something different about them.  They also feature an extreme variety of artists who create vessels, artful lighting, artisan furnishings and accessories.  In other words, Functional Art.

Upon opening the doors you'll see vignettes of home, where everything is artist-made...
